Bennett’s Big Drivetime, is a 2 hour Radio Show, provided to stations for free. It’s a live show, full of features and is broadcast live from Blackpool in Lancashire.
About the Show
The show has the following format:
- 4pm: News and Weather
- 4.02pm: Intro
- 4:04pm: The Non Stop 4 @ 4 – 4 non stop tracks from any decade
- 4:17: Hellos and Contact Details
- 4:20pm: Traffic and Travel (Roads, Trains and Tubes)
- 4:35: Same Title Different Song – This is 2 tracks which share the same title, but very little else!
- 5pm: News and Weather
- 5:02pm: Final Hour Intro
- 5:04pm: The 5 O’ Clock Singalong – A song to get you singing along
- 5:15pm: Traffic and Travel (Roads, Trains and Tubes)
- 5:30pm: The Wheel – A totally random track from any artist, decade, year and genre.
- 5:45pm: Back to the Old Skool – A classic Old Skool Track from the 80s and 90s
- 5:51pm: Show Finale (Dancy version of Time to Say Goodbye [Con Te Partirò] and Outro)
Between features, I play your requests, plus a mix of music from the 70s 80s, 90s, 00’s and today. The show has plenty of character jingles. (Rab C Nesbit, Postman Pat, Mrs Miggins, Kent Brockmen, Fire Officer Steele, Mrs. Dobutfire, Lorraine Kelly, Nessa Jenkins, Vanessa Feltz etc)
How to Interact with the Show:
I can take calls on air and the phone lines are open from 4pm. Cal 01253 966997 and press Option 1, to speak to me in the studio. If you want to go on the air, please let me know. (Please do not swear if talking on the air!)

Methods For Taking The Show
The show is sent as a url, which your station can take and then use as a live relay. I can encode to your station, if it is not possible to relay my stream to you. I play my Pre-News Theme, when I connect to stations at 3:59pm. This is then followed by the news bulletin at 4pm, if I encode directly.
News and weather is provided from Radio News Hub and is played at 4pm ad 5pm. Traffic and Travel is provided from various sources, including National Highways, National Rail and TFL. Traffic and Travel Bulletins are at around 4:15 and 5:15 respecticvely.
The Studio
Bennett’s Big Drivetime is presented live from the studio in Blackpool, Lancs. The studio is around 2 miles inland from the Golden Mile.
The Studio uses a Sonifex S2 Mixer, which is 20 channels. Playout is provided by Play It Live. I have a modern PC, with 2 screens. (One for Playout and one for Cart Wall \ Internet) I also have a 10 line phone, which is able to put callers live on the air. I also have a Minidisk Player, (yes I know, old skool) which I use for some of my jingles (PAMS) and Beds.
The Studio uses a smart display, which controls the lights (On Air Light and Mic Live Light) It also tells me when the telephone is ringing. The studio has LED lighting around the cealing, which provides a calm altmosphere.
Music wise, I have over 225,00 tracks, from the 1940s to today. All my tracks are MP3. The Internet is fast, with 256mb down and 100mg up.
I also have a LP Deck and plenty of Vinyl. Listen for the crackle at the beginning of a track!
